Bandpass filter coatings

Bandpass interference filter coatings are used for filtering desired spectral range from the spectrum. The main parameters of an interference bandpass filter coating are the peak transmission wavelength, and the full-width-half-maximum (FWHM or bandwidth) of the transmission range. Narrowband filter coatings have 10 nm or less, medium-band have about 40 nm, and wideband have about 80 nm FWHM.

The coatings could be produced not only on color glasses which blocks most of the spectral range, but also on typical glasses then high damage threshold is require. Such coatings do not have very wide blocking range, therefore do not rise thermal effects and has the damage threshold as high as typical coatings for high power applications.
